Quilt Pink Auction Going On Now at eBay

Lazies, I just finished surfing the Quilt Pink auction going on at eBay. Oh my goodness, hop over there, see the wonderful quilts up for auction, and place a bid or two to support  Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

I read about the start of the auction, and the story of this event, over at Gina Halladay’s blog Quilter’s Buzz.

From Gina:

Thousands of quilters and quilt shops throughout the world participated in this event sewing over 4000 quilts to help raise money for breast cancer.

The first set of quilts are on the auction block right now on eBay.

One hundred percent of the sale price goes to this non-profit foundation.  Their mission statement is:

‘To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.’

About the Quilt Pink event:
On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, more than 1,000 quilt shops all across the globe held Quilt Pink events, attracting thousands and thousands of quilters sharing one common goal – to stitch together quilts in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

American Patchwork & Quilting is proud to announce The Quilt Pink Charity Auction to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

This six-month auction campaign launched April 5, 2007.

It will feature weekly auctions, beginning each Thursday, totaling nearly 4,000 handmade quilts that showcase the talent and hope of quilters to unite in supporting a cure for breast cancer.

Check out the auction…It’s a pink site to see.

Thanks to Gina of Quilter’s Buzz for blogging about this story.

I’m really surprised that there hasn’t been more press on these quilts going to auction. It’s sort of funny because I listed them on my blog a few days earlier as well. All the marketing must have gone into making them, the quilt stores and all the big web sites should have a huge banner with a link to these auctions.

I have been reading this blog for a while now, and I thought it would be proper to leave a note of appreciation here.

    Many Thanks,

Hi! I had made 81 blocks for a quilt for Quilt Pink, then became ill myself and spent 16 months fighting a major illness. (not cancer, but equally as devastating!) I have only recently become well enough to feel like sewing again. I have assembled my Pink Quilt, and am ready to quilt it. Obviously, the Quilt Pink event is long since over, but I would still like to donate my quilt to benefit the Susan B. Komen foundation. Do you have any suggestions? I would appreciate your input!
