Flying Geese Ruler Demo

Lazies, I found a wonderful step-by-step post about our Flying Geese x 4 ruler by ‘Hedgehog’ of Vaasa, Finland, at Life’s a Quilt blog.

We updated our packaging earlier this year, so it’s a bit different than shown on the Life’s a Quilt blog. Our packaging update, while much needed, was primarily in response to our support for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Lazy Girl Designs makes a donation for each of our books and rulers that we sell. It’s easy to let things go when you are feeling good, but it’s so important to stay on top of your health – check yourself regularly. ‘Thanks’ to Hedgehog for her wonderful Flying Geese x 4 ruler tutorial.

Just purchased your Flying Geese x 4 Ruler only to find out that my pattern called for 4″ x 8″ flying geese and your ruler doesn’t accomodate that size. Do you have a larger one or plans to make one?

    Hi Barb,

The largest size that our Flying Geese x 4 ruler will make is a finished size of 3 1/2″ x 7″. We don’t have a ruler for sizes larger than that, I’m sorry to say. However, cut the ‘Large Squares’ at 9 1/4″ and the ‘Small Squares’ at 4 7/8″, then follow the instructions for constructing the geese as directed.

I often find that a pattern calls for odd sized geese, which are not on your ruler. What is the math calculation for cutting sizes to end up with 2″ x 3.5″ geese? Thanks!
