New ‘CraftStylish’ Magazine Offers Diverse and Stylish Projects
Lazies, Tracey Lenahan at Taunton Press sent me a copy of ‘CraftStylish’, their newest magazine for us sewy, crafty, stylish types.
‘CraftStylish’ is beautiful, offers a diverse range of projects from sewing to crafting in general, and has a nice feel and flavor.
This is the cover of the Spring 2008 ‘Quick Stuff to Sew’ issue. Click on the cover to enlarge.
CraftStylish is beautifully done, as is everything Taunton publishes I’ve been a die hard fan of their ‘Threads’ magazine for as long as I can remember.
The photography is excellent, making the instructions easy to follow. Here is a photo of the ‘Trendsetter’ bag project from the movie The Devil Wears Prada.

This issue happens to be chock full of bag and purse projects and they are as cute and stylish as can be.
‘CraftStylish’ magazine is currently available at newsstands and bookstores, as well as other retail outlets. Taunton is currently offering six issue this year, but CraftStylish is not yet available for subscription.
Tracey also sent a copy of Sew Stylish Gifts To Make, which will now be published under the CraftStylish brand. More fun projects to dive into.
Next time your are out at the book store, wander over to the magazine display and get a copy of CraftStylish. Their next issue is ‘Accessories’ expected June 10th.
In the meantime, surf over to their website at www.CraftStylish.com and spend some time looking around. They offer tons of wonderful projects and information. Also, be sure to sign up for their email newsletter.
Win These Magazines
Make a comment on today’s post and I’ll choose a lucky Lazy Girl to win these two magazines (Gifts To Make and Quick Stuff To Sew). You have until the end of the day Wednesday, April 23, 2008 to make a comment and enter. I’ll draw a name the next day.
Thanks to Tracey and Taunton.
Enjoy!

Thanks Joan – because of your connections, we here on the “no coast” get to hear about the great stuff! Without you I would be in the DARK!
Addicted to Crazy Girl and it looks like these magazines will contribute to my addiction.

You really help keep us on our toes!
Dearest Queen of the Lazies, If you say it is good, that is good enough for me! I am on my way to find it. And by the way, I just made a little Run around bag for my daughter-in-law’s birthday and it is fabulous! Thanks again for your fun stuff! Willa Lewis
I just love these types of magazines. I love those quick and easy projects that look like you’ve spent hours on them. Back to sewing!

Oh no, my husband is going to kill me for subscribing to another magazine and the postman won’t like me either.
Thanks for a look at a couple of new magazines that I have never seen, will look out for them on the newsstand. Also, love your Lazy Girl patterns, just finished two Newport Totes, gave one to my daughter-in-law to use as a tote or backpack.
I have a copy of “CraftStylish”. It is GREAT! So full of quick and easy ideas.
And I don’t know a crafter who isn’t addicted to magazines!
Thanks for the info!
If this magazine is anything like other Taunton publications, it will have a lot of good information in it. I hope that our exchange receives this magazine, but I have not seen it yet, and it could take months. We get “Threads”, but they no longer carry “Sew Beautiful”. They do carry a number of quilt magazines, along with a sewing magazine titled ‘Sew Simple’. The most recent issue has LGD mentioned a couple of times in it, with pictures of Miranda. Joan is becoming such a celebrity.
i would just LOVE to win these mags! i read another write up on the Craftsylish issue and it looks so good! THANKS for the chance to win one
Wow the book looks very interesting. I hope I win but if I don’t I will go and get it any. Thanks for sharing.

Joan, they look great! Taunton really does know how to make a spread look good. And what cute slippers!
I just love crafty ideas. I will have to look for these magazines. You just find such interesting things, Joan and your always willing to share with us lazies!
These magazines sound great. I like smaller, quick projects, and I am always looking for ideas.

Sylvia
Ohhh! That “Trendsetter” bag sure looks like fun to use. Craftstylish certainly looks like an interesting mag. Barnes & Nobel, here I come!
Both magazines look great!
Hi Joan,
Wow and wow, both of those books appear to have some interesting articles. I especially enjoy the magazines with multiple projects. Thank you for sharing the magazines with us! I have a collection of “Threads” from past years so I know the quality is top-notched!
Hi,
I would LOVE to win. I am trapped over here in Bosnia, no quilt shops and ugly material. Books are in Bosnian and there is no quilting magazines….HELP!
Nikki in Bosnia
Those flops look just right for the weather down here on the Gulf Coast and I love the color too!
Look forward to hearing something new from you every Monday so was glad to hear news today. And what great projects to add to our collections, just to prove we are not Lazy. If I don’t win, guess I will have to head to the store. Thanks Joan, for keeping life just a little more interesting, and giving us more reasons for growing older.
Mary Ann
Wow! Looks like my kind of mag. Love making crafty gifts for my family and friends, so will be linking up with Craft Stylish for sure.
Can’t wait to find the magazine! If you like it, I will like it! Thanks!
Wow, these look right up my alley
Thanx for the review and recommendation!
We do appreciate being informed about what is out there in creative land. I, for one, would not know about these two resources, for example. Many times I refer back to your blog to check other sites you have discussed and/or recommened.
These look like great magazines! I’d love to win.
I have just started with this sewing endevor, so this is still very new to me. My daughter started this with a school project where “she” was suppose to make something to sell. Start with a business plan, design it, and had to make the final product. It was fun, and we’re full of ideas, but we’re still learning. Every bit of information that I can get is great. Anything and eveything would help, and I would love to win this if nothing else for research.
Thanks so much for your consideration, and your web site. I’m lovin’ it.
I love to make bags and totes. Any new magazine with patterns for bags is a magazine for me!
I feel like there is a hole somewhere in heaven that keeps dropping all these fabulous opportunities for lazy but creative folks like us to go and on with never ending fun projects. Thanks for bringing these magazines to my attention… now to go locate a copies. I just love the ‘Trendsetter’… looks like a fun and neat pocket book to add to my many others. Today I was listening to an author’s book talk show where they were discussing shoes and chocolate… what about us folks that never seem to have enough sewing/craft/embroidery books/magazines!! Many thanks for sharing.
I have never seen those magazines in Australia and I am intrigued by the slippers! what a fun gift to make someone!
Lissa
The new magazines look fantastic. I wonder if they will be available anywhere here in Australia.

Oh my goodness, Joan!!… You’ve done it again!….
This Lazy Girl keeps getting all these *great* ideas, inspirations, and discoveries from you!!
Joan, *Thank you!*… I SO LOVE your patterns, ideas, products… As it is, they do a good job of keeping me busy, off the streets and out of trouble! (… well, except for that *stash* that keeps growing faster than I’ve been able to work it down! There IS some trouble building there!)
… and now you’ve introduced me to yet another delight!

A girl can not have enough projects! Love the inviting variety!!! Thanks for keeping us all “in the know”!
Hello Joan,
We are short on the ground with regards to craft/sewing magazines in English, so to win the draw would be wonderful. I am crossing fingers, toes and might even move onto the dog to help. Thank you for your generosity.
Lindsay in Switzerland

Thanks so much for sharing the info on these magazines. I love to read your posts and know that you are hunting down all the latest and greatest for us “lazies”. Keep up the good work!
I love quilting, embroidery and of course making the lazy girl design purses. I have purchased the items needed to make the quilt that Joan
had in Quick Quilts May 2008 edition. Love all the different ideals that
I see in all the different magazines. Need to get these.
Thank you Joan for sharing the info on these magazines! This sounds exactly what I’ve been looking for. I love making things for my friends and family and I love what you have shared. I cannot wait to get these!Linda
I’m fairly new to LAZY GIRLS, but surely have enjoyed watching you Joan on the webisodes and I’ve just purchased one of your patterns, the CLOE! I’m a bead designer and am looking forward to incorporating my bead work into your designs! Thanks for being so SHARP and precise in your designing! I admire that!
Oh, oh, oh, pick me, pick me! They don’t get any lazier than me. And I love magazines, I have to have them all. These look really interesting, and if I don’t win, looks like I’ll need to make a stop at the store and pick them up.
Billie
I wasn’t going to leave a comment, just look over the magazine and others’ comments, but when I saw the purse on the cover with the colorful polka dots, I had to write. I used that exact material to make a Towne purse, a Wonder Wallet, and an eyeglass case (one of Joan’s extra goodie at the end of a pattern) for a friend of my daughter. I had so much fun quilting on it! Joan’s patterns were a great match for the boldness of the material. I got a lot of compliments on that project. Thanks again, Joan!
Check out the shoes! When do we get a Lazy pattern for those!
They look like FABULOUS magazines…but alas, I live in the boonies so I know I won’t find the mags near me…hope I win! Thanks for the chance.
The magazines look great, I love anything simple and Lazy!!
Yes, a shoe pattern, love the idea.
Looks like some great projects to start making for holiday gift giving!…. especially those slippers!
I do have the magazine “Sewstylish Gifts to Make” and I love it. Its great how you give complete instructions. Keep em’ coming.
I also subscribe to Threads, and have enjoyed it for many years. As you can see I like to sew everything from clothes to crafts to slippers.
I hope my locale bookstore will carry them. Looks like lots of fun!
I love SewStylish and I’m sure that CraftStylish is a great magazine too. The cover is tempting. The instructions look detailed for simple projects. I would love to win these magazines.
Bags and totes are my favorite things to make and give as gifts. Thanks for all your generous advice and information, Joan. The magazines would be a wonderful gift for me!
Wow!! I keep seeing more and more I want to make – I am glad I am finally retired and have the time to sew and sew the lazy way. Now if I just had a never ending supply of $$.
Thank you so much for the tip. I really enjoyed the Sew Stylish Gifts to Make issue; this looks equally fun. Easy and quick work well for me since I have a very stressful full time career.
I am dying to get my hands on this magazine!! I am always looking for new purse designs! They are my passion!
Wow these look great. Cannot wait to pick them up and learn a thing or two since I am new to sewing.
From the cover it looks like a great magazine. Sew much to choose from.
Thank you for your email updates. Piece!
What a great looking magazine. I can’t wait to pick up a copy for myself! Thanks for the information.
I work at JoAnn Fabrics and spent my break today reading this magazine! It is a very nice mag, even my 17yr DD thought the pics on cover looked great!!
Love those yummy silk slippers. Could I really make them?
I have the one with the slippers. I haven’t made them yet but they look so fun. I mostly drool over all the pictures and dream of making the projects.
These magazines have such cute looking projects. And those fabric thongs look so comfy.
Love the new magazines. I will be looking for them at the next store I go into.
Have just finished the Miranda bag and love it.
Every pattern that I have tried so far has been fabulous.
The wonderwallet was amazing.
I saw someone using it at a show in Toronto.
Like a fool didn’t ask about it or if it was a pattern.
Have always been on the look out for the pattern finally found it and have been happily making them.
Thanks for the great patterns.
