Create Texture With Bobbinwork

Lazies, I’m fascinated by bobbinwork. Filling the bobbin with big beautiful fibers instead of thread, then stitching from the wrong side. When you are done, turn your creation over and the fiber is your quilting thread on the right side of your project. Jo Leichte, Consumer Support Specialist for Bernina of America, is today’s guest and Jo shares her bobbin-work Miranda Day Bag with us.

Last April I made the Lazy Girl “Miranda” bag and a friend liked it so much that I made one for her birthday recently.

Final Quilt Market Samples

Lazies, I rounded out last week’s Quilt Market sewing frenzy playing with two more scrumptious fabric lines. Garden Harvest by Gail Kessler for Andover Fabrics is a lovely red/white/green veggie party. It offers a mid-sized border print, perfect for my Claire Handbag. Look at how nicely the border is showcased on this sample. The front and back of this bag are the same.

I fussy cut a border print shown in white and green so the front and back would match at the side seams. I love how the stripes wrap around the bag. And look at that big juicy beet inside the bottom of the bag below. Too fun!

What’s Black and White and I Want It?

Lazies, What’s black and white and I want it? Any of these bags. I have a few more pics of samples headed to Quilt Market this week. Interestingly enough, both fabric lines shown today use the always popular combination of black and white. Oh baby, how I love black and white fabrics. Saying goodbye to these Girls will not be easy. Actually, these first two have already left home. Goodbye, sweet loves!

‘Lily’ Miranda Day Bag
‘Lily’ by Alice Kennedy for Timeless Treasures is just as beautiful and graphic in person as it is in these samples. This is the kind of collection that I want yards of. Yards! There are more prints available than I used in these samples.
