Candice: Giveaway, Interfacing and Big Nerdy Delight

Lazies, The arrival of our new pattern Candice is getting closer! She’ll be here soon. It is a big nerdy thrill for me when a new pattern walks in the door and we meet for the very first time. When Mr. UPS man brings that first box in the door, I open it with delicate curious respectful excitement.

Candice shown in ‘Pick a Bunch’ by Nancy Mims for from Kaufman.

I gently open the box top, look in, and gaze upon the stacks and stacks of Girls looking up at me. Taking the first new pattern out of the box is like making the first footprint in a perfect bed of snow or smooth sandy beach.

In prep for her arrival, here are a few notes about interfacing and a giveaway.

Interfacing: 45″ vs 20″ wide goods
Candice supply list calls for 45″ wide interfacing. The Bosal med/heavy #334 and Pellon Shape Flex #SF101 come on 20″ bolts.

For Shape Flex lightweight interfacing, buy 1 .5 yards or more. A few cutting options shown below.

For Bosal #334 med/heavy interfacing, buy 1 yard and use the same cutting layout in the Candice pattern.

To welcome Candice, we are giving away to 1 lucky Lazy:

I think it’s perfect that Candace is coming out just at the time they’ve finally created a Kindle I can’t pass up, the Fire will likely be my constant companion, and Candace will be there to carry it!

  5. Leslie Schmidt — October 10, 2011 @ 4:19 pm

Candice looks to be perfect for me! I can see her in so many fabric combinations, but I love what she looks like with the red and black from her intro picture. And I really like using the rectangular rings so the straps don’t slide around and fray. She would be very welcome in my house!

I have known for a while I needed a slightly bigger bag than the Margo I have been using. I obviously carry too much stuff but it’s all important.
Candice looks like she will do the trick and I am looking forward to using buckles for the first time.
    Bring her on.

My friend sent me your way as she knows I adore making bags (not as much as she does though!) – and wow, Candace is just beautiful. Big enough to be incredibly versatile and useful, but not so big that it looks (and feels!) like a potato sack. Thanks also for the cutting guide for interfacing!

I love Candace! I have Miranda and she is great. I was a first-time purse maker and found the instructions really easy to follow, thank you. You hooked me with Miranda. I have made her with vinyl, cotton, and a combination. I lengthened the straps, made her bigger, smaller, taller and shorter. All my friends wanted one. I love the versalitility and can’t wait to get Candace home.
