Candice: Giveaway, Interfacing and Big Nerdy Delight

Lazies, The arrival of our new pattern Candice is getting closer! She’ll be here soon. It is a big nerdy thrill for me when a new pattern walks in the door and we meet for the very first time. When Mr. UPS man brings that first box in the door, I open it with delicate curious respectful excitement.

Candice shown in ‘Pick a Bunch’ by Nancy Mims for from Kaufman.

I gently open the box top, look in, and gaze upon the stacks and stacks of Girls looking up at me. Taking the first new pattern out of the box is like making the first footprint in a perfect bed of snow or smooth sandy beach.

In prep for her arrival, here are a few notes about interfacing and a giveaway.

Interfacing: 45″ vs 20″ wide goods
Candice supply list calls for 45″ wide interfacing. The Bosal med/heavy #334 and Pellon Shape Flex #SF101 come on 20″ bolts.

For Shape Flex lightweight interfacing, buy 1 .5 yards or more. A few cutting options shown below.

For Bosal #334 med/heavy interfacing, buy 1 yard and use the same cutting layout in the Candice pattern.

I’m really looking forward to meeting Candice. So smart looking and functional too!!

  2. Brenda — October 10, 2011 @ 9:02 am

I love this new Candice, with the useful inside pockets. I recognize your “girls” on the arms of well dressed women, everywhere, now. I saw one in green and white, the other day, and decided I better use a similar color scheme for one, for me…hmmmm Maybe the Candice in green…..Of course, I hope I win this contest. Thanks for offering this.

  3. Cathy — October 10, 2011 @ 9:03 am

Already purchased the professional bag pattern but put it aside when I saw the Candice Bag! I have already made all your other patterns many times so I can’t wait to make this one!

  4. Marilyn Klein — October 10, 2011 @ 9:03 am

Love the new look that Candice provides. Anxious to make her. All those inside pockets are wonderful!

  5. Robbie Foster — October 10, 2011 @ 9:04 am

I am so anxious to make Candice. I have everything (right down to the D rings) for her except the pattern! I don’t have an iPad–may have to buy one to go with Candice. I love all my Lazy bags and can’t wait to add another. After mine is made, another may find her way to the Christmas list for my daughter.

  6. Gina C. — October 10, 2011 @ 9:05 am

Oooh, I’m totally loving this Candice bag! Looks like a perfect size, and love the handles too.

  7. Susannah — October 10, 2011 @ 9:06 am

  8. June — October 10, 2011 @ 9:07 am

I love everything about this pattern! I like the updated look of the outside pocket, I really like the zippered top, and I appreciate that there is an interior pocket for for out techie stuff. I look forward to getting this pattern, either by winning it or buying it.

  10. Helen — October 10, 2011 @ 9:15 am

    Hi Joan!
I love the new Candice. Now, this may sound strange, but I like her layout because it keeps a nice “clean” exterior. The diagonal pattern seems to enhance rather than break up the exterior fabric pattern.
BTW, I’m a weaver of fine exotic fabrics for garments, plus. This is why I’m so happy with your latest design. It is as if you made it for me!
The pockets inside will really make her functional, too! I look forward to welcoming her into my life! Thanks!

  11. Cory — October 10, 2011 @ 9:15 am

Really like this pattern! It caught my eye for traveling; with the special pockets so I can safely carry my iPad with me when I travel. I am just getting back into sewing, this will be my first big project after the several small items I’ve already tried for practice.

    Thanks much,

    Jennie

  33. LInda — October 10, 2011 @ 9:49 am

Can’t wait to start making my own Candice bags. Loved Margo but apparently I carry way too much stuff so a slightly bigger bag will be wonderful. The zipper instructions were great.

  34. LauraLou — October 10, 2011 @ 9:50 am

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BAG! I’ve made several lazy bags and my friends now tease me by asking which bag I am carrying today. I would love to carry this one and have the fabric idea already cookin’ in my head.

  49. Pat — October 10, 2011 @ 9:59 am

I just love all of your purses and the fact that you are such a nice person to do business with. You went out of your way to assist me when I had a problem.

I have the perfect fabric for this bag… a big print… but I bet it would look great in two different colors of solid linen too.
